Current Communications Sells Dallas Fiber Network to TXU
Thursday, 10. June 2010 22:22
Current Communications sold it’s fiber network in Dallas to TXU who plans to use all of that fiber to monitor power grids. Thus ends the dream of a 3rd competitor for broadband to compete with the telcos and cable company. After 10 years and many politician’s promises that power companies would enter the broadband market and create competition, we can put a fork in this technology.
TXU will use the fiber to ping homes to quickly determine when and where power outages occur. The excess bandwidth will not be used for internet access.
